Take Time Out with Leffe

09 August 2006 - Leffe has secured the headline sponsorship of the prestigious Time Out Eating and Drinking Awards 2006 and the Time Out Eating and Drinking Guide 2007, which recognises and supports the capital’s top restaurants, cafés, bars and gastropubs.

The annual Time Out Eating and Drinking Awards, highlight and reward excellence amongst London restaurants, bars and gastropubs across ten categories and is perfectly positioned to complement Leffe’s premium position in the marketplace. The establishments in the running are nominated and voted for by consumers and food critics, making the Awards a huge accolade for each winner.

In addition to overall sponsorship of the Awards, Leffe will also be the title sponsor of the Leffe Best Gastropub award, specifically rewarding achievement in the category and linking the brand with good food. Leffe branding will feature on all promotion for the Awards, including heavy-weight presence in Time Out and on www.timeout.com/restaurants.

Nominated establishments are selected based on the recommendations of Time Out readers and food critics and five outlets are short listed for each of the ten awards. Time Out strongly promotes the Awards in the run-up to the ceremony on 18th September, driving consumers to www.timeout.com/london/restaurants where they can vote for their favourites. Each shortlisted outlet is visited and Time Out’s renowned food critics select the winners.

The Time Out Eating and Drinking Guide 2007, which lists 1,500 independently and anonymously reviewed restaurants, cafés, bars and gastropubs, will be published on 21st September 2006. More than 80 000 copies of the guide will be made available and it will retail at £10.99 from leading bookshops newsagents and newsstands in London and the South East. Leffe branding will feature throughout, including the front and back covers.

James Watson, Marketing Manager for Leffe at InBev UK said: “Beer is increasingly an accepted and popular accompaniment for food, with speciality beers such as Leffe at the forefront of this. Time Out will reaffirm that with a significant number of consumers who eat out regularly, helping to drive beer sales in London outlets. The sponsorship follows on from Leffe’s involvement with Taste of London where we successfully presented the Beer Academy where consumers were not only educated about speciality beer, but also had a chance to learn more about food and beer matching.”

Mark Phillips, Sales Director for Time Out Guides said: “We are extremely pleased to be working with Leffe as sponsor of the best-selling Time Out Eating & Drinking Guide and the Time Out Eating & Drinking Awards. It’s a great brand partnership, Leffe's position as a premium speciality beer fits well with Time Out's unrivalled reputation as a major independent publisher; both brands encouraging London to maintain its position as a gastronomic capital, through its favourite annual restaurant guide and eating & drinking awards event.”
