Toby Whitbread, 31, an up-and-coming artist from Kent, scooped the top prize in the innovative talent search sponsored by Brahma to discover Brasilian-inspired, cutting-edge artwork combining flair, originality and style.
His eye-catching design will feature on more than half a million bottles and four-packs distributed to on-trade and take-home outlets from May – and he has also been rewarded with a £5,000 cash prize. Kirsty Hunter, Director of Marketing for Brahma at InBev UK said: “These new designs communicate the real urban spirit of Brasil in a contemporary fashion that will make a big impact with lager lovers in the months ahead. The unique promotional designs for the bottle and packaging will reinforce the brand’s appeal and generate new sales momentum during a key sales period for premium lager.” The VISTOBRAHMA competition- with ‘VISTO’ being the Portuguese for ‘seen’- was open to anyone in the UK including painters, illustrators, photographers, street artists or any other creative discipline. Their challenge was to create a classic design based on the spirit of Brahma and urban Brasil and to upload it to the website www.vistobrahma.com. The judging panel included four cutting-edge artists from the world of contemporary and urban art - Stella Vine, Cathy Lomax, Jimi Crayon and Harry Pye. The designs will not only appear on the Brahma bottle and packaging but will also feature in a touring exhibition alongside works from the winners of the VISTOBRAHMA competition and the People’s Vote. |
